The Florida State Soccer Association recently hosted a 7 v 7 Adult Tournament in Naples. The three-day event concluded this past Sunday with team champions crowned in six divisions (Men's Open, Coed, Men's O30, Men's O40, Men's O50 and Men's O60).
A total of 38 teams made the trip to North Collier Regional Park for round-robin play Friday and Saturday, while Sunday games were relegated to playoff semifinals and/or championship finals in each division. Games featured 25-minute halves played on fields measuring (by rule) 70 yards in length and 55 yards in width, with teams earning three points for a win and one point for a draw in the group standings.
The Men's O40 Division included 12 teams split into three groups of four, with the top squad in each group plus a wild card team advancing to the semifinals. In the remaining five divisions, the top two teams from the preliminary-round stage qualified for the finals.
The Florida State Soccer Association, which is the official governing body representing U.S. Soccer in the state, will also hold its 2015 Annual General Meeting and Hall of Fame Reception Aug. 7-8 in Orlando.
