The location of Sunday evening's World Cup viewing party has changed yet again, this time to the dry asphalt of Balbo Drive between Lake Shore and Columbus drives.
The change of venue is the second for the 5 p.m. patriotic party in Grant Park where the match will be broadcast on giant TV screens.
After throngs of Chicagoans showed up to watch America's first match in Brazil, organizers shifted Sunday's location to spacious Hutchinson Field. But a series of soaking rains prompted a recalibration, with officials saying the move to the downtown roadway will 'allow fans a dry and convenient location.'
A pre-game party was scheduled to start at noon Sunday with activities planned up until the evening kickoff. All the pregame festivities are still on, organizers said, but no beer will be allowed at the new site.
