Equatorial Guinea was chosen today to host the 2015 African Cup of Nations in place of Morocco, slammed by the Football Confederation for refusing to host over the fear of the Ebola outbreak.
Oil-rich Equatorial Guinea was chosen among Angola, Nigeria, Gabon and Egypt.
The Ebola epidemic has left over 5,000 dead since March, almost all in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea. Morocco had asked for a 6 months delay of the African Cup, but the Confederation refused due also to previous accords with French Clubs for the return of players in their national teams.
