The Virginia women's soccer team's quest for the programs first national championship was cut short by Florida State.
The match was tightly contested throughout and neither team registerd a shot on goal until the 82 minute.
Less than minute later Florida State's Jamia Fields was able beat goalie Morgan Stearns with a shot from outside the top of the 18 in the 83 minute.
The win earned Florida State their first ever women's soccer national championship in their 8th college cup appearance.
Virginia's Makenzy Doniak, Danielle Colaprico, Emily Sonnett and Morgan Brian were named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. Sonnett was also named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player in the College Cup.
Virginia finishes their season 23-3-0. The 'Hoos only losses this year were 1-0 matches to Florida State.
